About Katya
Providing counselling for Nelson BC and beyond
Katya Coad, RTC
I don’t define you by your struggles—rather I see you as a whole, resourceful person with great capacity for growth and healing
As a lifelong learner fascinated by human nature, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University, Chico, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from Claremont Graduate School. I completed the coursework for a Master of Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University and earned my Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) designation at Orca Institute in Vancouver, where I also completed my practicum. My experience includes working with disadvantaged teens, marginalized communities, and crisis intervention. I take a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, integrating Somatic Experiencing, CBT, parts work, and inner child healing.
I walk side-by-side with you
With your confidentiality is my top priority
I don’t aim to “fix” you—rather, I support and empower you. As you guide your own healing journey, I’ll offer:
• Encouragement and unwavering support
• A genuine, evolving presence
• Thoughtful questions and reflections
• Practical tools to assist you along the way
Together, we’ll uncover the inner resources you already have to move forward with greater confidence.
I Love Supporting People
